Rootclip 2.0

View site: http://www.rootclip.com/

The second rendition of Rootclip.com (take a look at version 1.0) was a complete redesign from the ground up.

Rootclip had outgrown the original site and had big plans for the future and thus needed a site that would scale with their ambition.

As part of the Scripps Entrepreneurial Fund, Rootclip was given the green light to find a new video vendor and add a number of features for the next generation site.

Working closely with key stakeholders the information architecture was redesigned around the new contest model and feature set. I built a set of wireframes to quickly detail the flow of information and interaction and then launched into a complete set of mockups. Every detail was carefully planned in Photoshop first and then sliced up into XHTML and CSS.

While I was working on the front end, Ryan Berg was building the backend in Django to handle the new user profiles, video uploading and voting system.

The resulting site was extremely well received by the user base and the design, semantic markup and codebase are functioning smoothly and ready for the next step.
